Profile - Michael Main

I began racing pigeons with my father in 1961 under the name W. Main & Son, and then as M. Main, so that is 50 years continuous racing with consistent results at Club, Federation and National level flying from 60 miles to 630 miles.

In 2010 I won with the Silver City Racing Pigeon Club the following –
Club wins:  Ripon, Whitton Castle, Clermont, Thornton x 2, St Boswell, Alnwick, Ripon.
Club Trophies won:  Bill Duncan Mem Trophy 3 longest inland races; SCR Old Bird Average two trophies;  Longest Young Bird Race trophy;  Bill Ratclife Yearling trophy; A & D Sim Clermont trophy;  Sandy Milne Mem Trophy;  Most Young Bird points;  Freelands Bar trophy for three longest Old Bird races and three longest Young Bird races average;  G Carrol trophy Young Bird average;   Silver City Best Average First Six Y B races; Eveline Cameron Mem Trophy;  Combined Averages;

Aberdeen Federation wins:
Longest Old Bird Race from Clermont;

Aberdeen Fed trophies:
Blair trophy Longest Old Bird race;  Mackeson trophy Longest Old Bird Race;  Scotland’s Own Trophy Longest Old Bird Race;   Combined Average trophy;  Old Bird Average Trophy;  Average Trophy for longest Old Bird race and Young Bird race;  F. Jamieson trophy for three longest Old Bird races average;

This year I won the last race from France, 587 miles, with the same bird Meana which won the race last year.   I was also the only one in the Federation to compete and time in all the Federation races from 60 miles to 587 miles.   My team is made up with tried and tested birds from my old family of Osmans, van Loons, Jan Ardens, Janssens, the Mel Bell lines and some of the top distance lines from Scotland.  Winners too numerous to detail, photos of some winning birds on the website.   Details to follow.

Occasionally I have birds for sale from my best birds; Visitors are welcome by appointment.
